A Team migration through MoveBot is the simplest and quickest way to move a team or organization from one cloud provider to another, for example migrating G-Suite to Dropbox for Business.
For team and business migrations we recommend using Movebot Projects. The team at Movebot highly recommend migrating data at a time when the data won't be edited, deleted or heavily modified as this could cause failures during the migration.
Step 1: Create a Migration
Navigate to the Migration Manager and select Create
Step 2: Configure G Suite
Select your source storage, in this case we are choosing G Suite, follow the instructions here on how to configure G Suite for migration. Click Next Step
Step 3: Configure Dropbox Business
Select your destination storage , in this case we are choosing Dropbox Business, simply login using the OAuth prompt (Link Storage) then click Next Step
Step 4: Select Users, Drives and Folders
Select the source users, shared drives you'd like to migrate across. If nothing is selected, it will move everything
Select the destination location to receive the users and shared drives. You must select a destination folder to move these into. Whether this is a one-one mapping (username@bigcompany -> username@bigcompany) or many-one mapping (marketing drive, sales drive -> business drive)
For advanced user mapping or to migration multiple users, see Movebot Project Manager
Step 5: Configure Settings and Start the Migration
Give the migration a name and alter any settings you wish. Extra worker nodes will improve performance and you can also select the geographical location where your migration runs from if data sovereignty is a concern. When you are happy, Save and Kickoff
Name | A name for the migration |
Email Notifications | Get emailed when your migration is completed |
Delta Enabled | Only move files that have been modified since the last migration |
Scheduled | Select a time to run the migration, or set a daily scheduled migration |
Worker Nodes | Improve performance by adding extra Movebots to process your data |
Advanced Options - We recommend leaving these as the default
Post Upload Check | When enabled, on completion of the migration we will run through and check that the files made it across. Some providers take time to process the files and having this enabled can make it seem that files have not been transferred and cause the migration to fail. |
Filename Sanitization | Some providers such as OneDrive don't allow certain characters in file names, we will make amendments so that all your files make it across. |
Doctype Conversion | Google file types such as .gdoc, .gsheet and .gslide aren't readable from other providers, we will automagically convert the files to .docx, .xlsx and .pptx during the migration. |
Duplicate Santization | Google Drive allows multiple files and folders with the same name, with this enabled and if there are two or more files with the same name, we only move the most recently updated file. |
Worker Threads | We highly recommend not touching this unless you know what you are doing. This is set to the best for your cloud provider by default. |
Step 6: Leave it to Movebot
You can now close your browser and continue with other tasks, Movebot will send you an email on completion.
If you need any assistance or have any questions, please send through an email to support@movebot.io - the team is more than happy to help.
