Moving from Google Drive can have its challenges. The biggest hurdle seen is Google proprietary file types such as .gdoc and .gsheet. These file types are not compatible with other software and unfortunately Google makes it difficult for you to move all of your files into a new provider, without you downloading each one of your files, one by one as a .docx or .xlsx file.
The thought of having to download each file one by one is enough to put anyone off moving their files from Google Drive and into a new cloud provider such as OneDrive, Dropbox or Box. MoveBot has simplified this process by providing you the ability to automatically convert these files during your cloud migration, and all it takes is a check of a box.
When configuring a migration with MoveBot from Google Drive, go through the standard process of configuring Google Drive as your source and then configuring your destination storage whether this is Box, Dropbox, OneDrive or even an S3 bucket.
Once you get to settings ensure that "Automatic Doctype Conversion" is checked, this will then automatically convert the files during the migration. Once this is done, simply kick off the job, grab a coffee and leave the rest to MoveBot.
Note: Due to limitations with Google, any file over 10MB cannot be converted using the above means. Additionally, Google does not allow MoveBot to export Drawings, Forms, Sites, and Maps from Drive. These are not transferred.
