Movebot allows you to Migrate from a Windows file server through a simple agent that can be deployed on Server 2012 and 2019. Multiple servers can be configured to a single project by reusing the token.
Configuring the Connection
If you are migrating from a Windows File Server, select your Source cloud platform from the dropdown provided, in this case, it would be Windows File Server Agent.
- Download and run the .exe file as an admin on your file server (no installation required)
If running Windows Server 2019 or later you may need to install Microsoft's Webview2 package - Enter your Agent Connection Token
- Click Connect to Movebot
- Once connected, leave the agent running in the background and continue with your migration configuration.
- When you choose to add Users/Drives, you should see the server listed as an entry starting with hostname. You can then drill-in, navigating the filesystem and select individual folders to migrate.
Example Configuration Steps
Configuring the storage connection and downloading the agent
Run the agent on your server and enter the token as supplied from the Movebot interface
Troubleshooting the Connection
If you don't see the server listed in the Users/Drive selection, check that the agent status is Connected, verify that the token is correct and try restarting the agent. Also make sure that your content filter allows connections to *.movebot.io and *.couchdrop.io.
